Building a Global Network for Renewable Energy and Community Engagement
Although renewable energy projects hold immense potential for powering our future sustainably, their success isn’t solely measured by kilowatts generated – it’s equally about their impact on the communities they touch.
Leading from the Global South
INSPIRE is coordinating the creation of a new international network of organisations in the Global South, focusing on the relationships between large-scale renewable energy projects and communities.
In June this year, we will embark on a week-long mission of collaboration using the Booksprint methodology to weave together the collective learnings from our diverse experiences. Through this process we can amplify the voices of practitioners and communities involved in and affected by large-scale renewable energy projects and share their stories – the good and the bad.
We need your help
If you are a practitioner in the field working for government, an NGO, energy companies, academia, are involved with a community trust or if you are a community member engaging with these types of projects, we want to hear from you.
INSPIRE invites all individuals and organisations to contribute their experiences and ideas. We are interested in specific examples of community engagement, benefit sharing and other social-related (good or bad) practices in the implementation of large-scale renewable energy projects so we can bring as many learnings as possible to reflect on in our network discussions.
We want to learn from projects at various stages of renewable energy project development, and from practitioners with different perspectives – everyone’s perspective is valued and even setbacks offer valuable lessons.
We look forward to hearing your story and sharing it with the world!
