The JustRE Practitioner Leadership Programme is a pioneering initiative to strengthen the capacity and confidence of renewable energy practitioners in driving socially responsible and community-supported RE projects. Focused on the Global South, this programme aims to empower a diverse cohort of professionals to lead transformative practices in their local and regional contexts.

In the month of February 2026, the JustRE Alliance, with their partners Forum for the Future and INSPIRE convened a multi-stakeholder pilot workshop to test the draft design of the leadership programme. The workshop created a space to exchange experiences, deepen expertise, strengthen networks and explore collaborative solutions to shared challenges.

This programme moves beyond technical capacity-building toward developing social performance practitioners as agents of systemic change within the renewable energy sector.

The “I – We – World” Framework

The programme is grounded in three interconnected levels:

  • The World: Understanding system dynamics, power structures and broader patterns shaping renewable energy development.
  • The I: Cultivating self-awareness, personal agency and examining how we may enable or obstruct change.
  • The We: Activating relationships, trust and collective capacity to drive transformation.

The workshop combined structured learning with reflective practice, mirroring the intended design of the full programme. Sessions introduced the work of the JustRE Alliance and partner organisations and explored the foundations of effective collaboration through a framework.

The pilot workshop generated valuable insights that are now informing the next stage of programme development and over the coming months, the project team will refine the curriculum based on these learnings and further develop the programme structure.
