A new interactive resource that brings renewable energy projects and Community Trusts together to into one screen.
Across South Africa’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP), Community Trusts form an important part of the ecosystem yet remain fractured across South Africa. As part of our ongoing Trust Matters project, whch works to capacitate trusts, we have launched a new resource that helps to close this gap: The REIPPPP Community Trusts and Projects Map.
Bringing projects and Community Trusts together
While there are already resources that map renewable energy projects, this map adds a new layer and brings Community Trusts into the picture. For Community Trusts, it can help answer a simple question: Who is around me?
Locating neighbouring trusts can create opportunities to identify organisations that may be facing similar challenges, developing useful approaches or simply operating within a similar geographical context. When trusts can easily connect with each other, this supports learning, connection, communication, coordination and collaboration.
The map has been developed in collaboration with The Energy Desk, under INSPIRE’s Trust Matters project, through which we work to capacitate Community Trusts in the REIPPPP and strengthen their effectiveness. This map contributes to this work by making information about the Community Trust landscape more accessible and easier to explore.
