Gender inclusivity towards a just energy transition in South Africa

This study investigates how the energy transition could advance gender inclusivity in South Africa in a manner that is just and promotes equal decision-making, participation and benefits for women. It also examines the barriers to gender inclusivity in South Africa’s transition to clean energy. Based on the theoretical framework of energy justice theory, this study uses the lens of the adapted engendered energy justice conceptual framework to inform its qualitative study of South Africa’s just energy transition to clean energy.
