Advocacy

Encourage engagement and further development of trauma-informed community development work in REIPPPP

INSPIRE and the Centre for Mental Wellbeing and Leadership (CMWL) are partnering in the work on trauma in the context of large-scale renewable energy deployment and governance. The Xazulula project is a flagship project of this partnership, developing, piloting and scaling approaches to trauma-informed social performance practice and community leadership development.

Our Strategy

The process begins with exploring the nature, extent and depth that stress and trauma have impacted a community, working to unpack and address the underlying neuropsychological factors, and therefore allowing for the recovery and building of sustainable coping strategies for the individuals and the community at large.

Following thorough analysis we aim to deliver strategies, objectives, frameworks and tools for leaders and decision-makers to unlock the potential for community development and deepen REIPPPP’s community impact.

Our work will be considered as done when we can leave stakeholders feeling equipped with the knowledge and tools necessary to foster positive, sustainable change in affected communities.

Case Study

In 2021 to 2022 we provided a capacity building intervention to a community leadership group who formed part of the governance structure for an IPP. This intervention aimed to address trauma, transform woundedness and equip community leaders with the knowledge and tools to transform the multi-layered trauma that was hindering successful community development.

The 6 month intervention covered 5 modules:

Module 1

Understanding Your Context

Module 2

Digging into Ourselves

Module 3

Intrapersonal Skills for Leadership in Wounded Contexts

Module 4

Interpersonal Skills for Leadership in Wounded Contexts

Module 5

Leadership

We invite you to download this comprehensive case study, pioneering the Trauma-Informed Approach to community development.
